At a very young age, Justin Mariani was doodling on his school work or art books. When he realized he could channel that passion to a permanent canvas on skin he sought out tattooing as a career. Justin began tattooing in 2004, out of Hostile Tattoo in Apple Valley, California. He completed his apprenticeship there under Scott Schwab.
After moving to Cody, Wyoming in 2008, Justin purchased Stray Cat Tattoo and rebranded himself in the community as Human Canvas Tattoo. Justin traveled back to the west periodically for a number of years to guest spot at tattoo shops in California, Utah and Nevada and continues to do so periodically.
In 2011, he started concentrating on realism and portraits which is where his passion still lies. While Justin specializes in the above mentioned styles, he is a true artist and can produce any tattoo style that is requested. It gives him great pleasure to see something come to life on the skin.
Prior to becoming a father in 2012, Justin was active in the tattoo expo lifestyle where he accumulated many awards over the years. He was a nationally sponsored artist through several tattoo companies. He has also been an internationally and stateside recognized artist in publications such as "Tattoo Master"and "Skin Deep", among many others as well. After becoming a father, his focus shifted and he left the fast paced tattoo community to raise his children and focus on Human Canvas Tattoo in Wyoming.
After owning and operating Human Canvas Tattoo for twelve years, he decided that building Studio 18 Tattoo and Hair with the love of his life was what he wanted for the next chapter in his career as the kids grow older.
Justin enjoys his salt water hobby which helps him feel near to the ocean by growing and raising coral and salt water fish. His kids, Declan and Delilah and fiance Taylor are his world who he loves traveling with. His mother, Shirley, has been driving force behind the scenes and has helped Justin along the way during his endeavors in the industry. It brings him great joy to see his family succeed with their bold personalities, hard work and motivation to support each other in whatever they wish to conquer. His other passions include competing in archery, hunting and lifting in the gym to promote a healthy lifestyle for his family. With any spare time, Justin enjoys creating artwork in all forms. You can see some of his work in the slides below and find him as a featured artist on Tattoo Now.
